How to Wear Long Dangly Necklaces
3/12 ~ By Neida. Long dangling necklaces, although not for everyone, are definite fashion statements and if "dramatic" is what you like, they can certainly fit the bill. And just to clarify "long", I am referring to necklaces that hang past your bust and sometimes even past your belly button! They're made with all kinds of beads and chains or a mix of both materials. Some have pendants and some don't. Some are colorful and some are monochromatic. You get the idea. The variations are so vast! And when worn properly, they can definitely add pizzazz and can bring your attire out of the realm of boring. So here's my take on how to wear them...
If you are into simple yet dramatic look at the same time, you can achieve this with one long, beautiful and strategic "statement" necklace. Something like my Crystal Beaded Wrap Necklace might work. Keep in mind that if your outfit has a lot of detail, then that is really all it takes. With that said, if your outfit can take it (for example, you're wearing a top and bottom in solid colors) and you want a busier look, go ahead and wear multiple long dangling necklaces of slightly different lengths. But avoid too many necklaces at the same time and / or necklaces incorporating chunky pendants when layering or your jewelry will start to feel WAY too heavy. Remember Mr. T? So no matter what, the necklaces should feel light and flowing. And never forget the standard rule of thumb that no matter what, your jewelry should enhance what you're wearing and not overpower it.
